Download and share¶
Download a study¶
Every role, including User, can download.
- Open
https://<your-subdomain>.mypacs.co/orthanc. - Find the patient, study or series.
- Choose Download — you get a ZIP of DICOM files.
The ZIP contains real DICOM, so it opens in any DICOM viewer and can be imported into another PACS.
Share with someone outside your organisation¶
Admin and Doctor can create a share link to a study from Orthanc. Anyone holding that link can view the study without a MyPACS account.
A share link is patient data
Anyone with the link can open the study — there is no second check of who they are. Send it to one named recipient over a channel you trust, never in a group chat or a public ticket, and set an expiry where you are offered one. If a link may have gone astray, tell your Admin so the share can be revoked.
When the recipient is a colleague who will need studies again, don't share a link — invite them as a User instead. It's revocable, attributable, and takes a minute.
Send to another PACS¶
Admin and Doctor can forward studies to another DICOM system that has been configured as a destination. Ask info@mypacs.co to set up a destination; it requires network access between MyPACS and that system.
Anonymisation¶
Orthanc can produce an anonymised copy of a study — patient identifiers are removed or replaced and the copy is stored as a new study. Use it for teaching files, publications and research exports.
Check the result before you release it. Identifiers hide in unexpected places: burned-in text on the pixels themselves, private tags, structured reports, and the file names inside an export.
